Stranger things season 2 ending
The ending of Stranger things season 2 was far more conclusive than the first but also left the main antagonist and several plot points to be explained.
Firstly, the mind flayer revealed briefly as the end still looms above the upside-downs duplicate of the facility, suggesting that it will continue to try and break through to our world now that it has noticed our existence. As the primary antagonist and only entity besides demogorgons from the upside-down introduced thus far, the mind flayer poses a massive threat to our world.

The secondary antagonist Hawkins national laboratory was seemingly defeated, forced out of town by the publicization of their experiments. However, Hawkins is unlikely to concede the monetary value of the gate and will likely attempt to reopen it using the briefly mentioned previous experiments.
Speaking of previous experiments, Kali Prasad or Eight was introduced this season and her combination of strength and hatred for Hawkins will likely lead her to aid Eleven in future conflicts against both the upside-down's supernatural monsters and the corporate monster of Hawkins.
Finally Eleven. Having been personally noticed by the mind flayer, it is quite likely that the monster will attempt to reach Eleven or the aforementioned previous experiments in an attempt to reopen the gate. Now that it is aware of these abilities, the shadowy mind flayer will either kill or corrupt the experiments like it did to Will, controlling them to widen or even open multiple gates.
